I. Intro.
Dating is a western society thing. (Gen. 24:2-4)
There was not such concept of dating the bible days.
Marriages were prearranged. – India & Africa
II. Dating nowadays have a sexual connotation.
-Videos and Music has really cause eyebrows to be raised. Videos show what’s happening when a boy and a girl get together. Which feeds into our expectation of what is suppose to happen on dates.
Ex. Songs like “As we lay……”, “Let me see that Thong….”
- What you have here is the principle of sowing and reaping. What you put in is going to come out. Godly principles can work for the good or for the bad.

Ex. The last episodes of Dragon Ball Z with the Supreme Ki and not letting the wizard Babidi collect Gohan’s energy to create Majin Buu.
-This is why a lot of parents don’t want their teens to date. You look at the videos and your actions don’t line up with what they are teaching you. YOU ACTIONS LET PEOPLE KNOW WHERE YOU ARE MENTALLY.

III. Today’s Dating System is all about quick and self-gratification.
Ex. Song “What have you done for me lately...”
“I need a girl that rocks my World”
-Popularity/Attention, Sexual pleasures
1Corn. 13:5 Love is not Self- seeking.
“For God so love the World that he GAVE”
We call it Special Friends!! Not dating!!!
IV. If you are planning on having a special friend. Here are some principles you should use.
a. Put the Lord first – Matt. 6:33
b. Develop friendship relationships.
i. Express min. physical affection
c. Be successful at being who you are first
i. Make good grades, be faithful
ii. Hosea 2:19-20
d. If you are going out spend that time with the family.
e. Seek the counsel of mature believers and parents, people who know you better than others. (Pro. 12:15; Ps. 106:13-15)
f. Make sure you and your special friends share the same moral standards.
i. I Corn. 6:9-10
ii. II Corn. 6:14-16
iii. I Corn. 15:33; Psalm 1:1
V. Closing ex.
a. My boyfriend wants to have sex. I don’t what to lose him what should I do?
i. Sex before marriage is against God’s law. (1 Thes. 4:3-5; Ep. 5:3) IF he love you
ii. Love is not Self seeking and does not delight in evil (I Corn. 13:5-6)
iii. If you decide to have sex with him and you know it’s wrong you are mocking God and you are putting him before God. (Gal. 6:7) Sex Sin has consequences. AIDS, Unwanted Preg. Loss of Dignity, low self-esteem.
iv. You should ask God to help you. (I Corn. 10:13)
Having a Special Friend or Dating is like icing on a cake it is important but too much icing makes a bad cake. Spend your time serving God, with your family, and getting an education.
