“The Super Teen”
Luke 2:41-52
Objective: To see how we can develop Jesus character traits in our lives.
Keys to becoming a Supernatural Teen
1. Embrace God as your Father and first influence.
- Luke 2:49 – not unusual because of puberty and getting away from parents
i. Developed his relationship with the Father more than any other.
- Ways to embrace God as our Father like Jesus & Steps we can take to do them?
i. Not depend on our friends advice or more than God’s Word
1. Seek counsel from Parents, adult, or spiritual leader (Prov. 12:15)
2. Hear the advice from friend but check to see if it agrees with your spirit man (conscious).
3. Look thru the Bible yourself for answers
4. Be obedient to the word of God or the HS
ii. Be about our Father’s Business like Jesus
1. Make the Things of God a priority in your life & Be Real About it!
a. Praying, Going to Church, reading the bible
b. Walking in love, being respectful
c. Be real about it by doing everyday, every hour, etc., and being bold about it!!! Telling others!!!
iii. Spend some (Quality Time) with God
1. Set some personal time aside to pray, read the word, and listen.
2. You will know it is quality time when you see results and increase. (NO RESULTS or INCREASE, More Time with God)
iv. Let our opinions and actions be influenced by the word of God
1. Speak the things that the word says speak, do the things the word says do and don’t do the words says not to do. (This is Spiritual)
(Having Control)
-----Everybody doesn’t have your best interest in mind.
2. Embrace God’s Word as your life’s nourishment.
Nourishment means
3 days listening. What would you do?
Specific things we can to become more teachable
- Sitting among the teachers – people who know the bible
i. Be open to instruction
ii. Don’t think we know it all
iii. Be respectful
- Listening – not just humorist or comedians
- Asking Questions – probing deeper for clearer understanding
- Giving Answers – quick to listen, slow to speak
3. Embrace parents as authority figures in your life.
Some area in which you need to become more obedient to your parents
- Hearing & Doing
- Stop thinking that they don’t want you to have fun
- Have a better attitude (Be consistent)
- Think more about my future
- Be more responsible
