R.A.Y.G., the Radically Anointed Youth Group of Right Direction Christian Center was the brainchild of Pastor Herbert Bailey. Remembering his own days as a teen in his local church, Pastor Bailey knew that most churches did not have programs tailored toward the young people (teens). This gave the teens the impression that the things of God were for the older people in the church. Determined to let the youth of Right Direction Christian Center know that Godly things are for everyone and not just the older crowd in the church, Pastor Bailey formed the church’s youth program. The first meeting of the RDCC youth group took place in the summer of 1998, with Pastor Bailey and five of the church’s youth in attendance. Since that first meeting the group has blossomed and become R.A.Y.G. With a corps of youth counselors and youth on fire for Christ, R.A.Y.G. is poised to prepare the youth in our church to become leaders with a heart for Christ.
Purpose
The purpose of the Right Direction Christian Center youth program is three fold: It is a Christ Centered youth group designed to 1) provide a criticism-free and healthy environment for youth to discuss the problems they encounter as saved teens. 2) To serve as a supplemental program to enhance the practical biblical foundation given during church services. 3) To provide an alternative to worldly entertainment (RAVE FUN!). Along with the mentioned agenda, the youth program also tries to provide the youth with basic practical knowledge that will help them function in the world.
Mission
The mission of the youth program is to create Christ-like young people who are ready to help Right Direction Christian Center stand out and fulfill its vision of being the diverse church of unconditional love and acceptance used by God to minister in the in the areas of Spiritual SelfÂ-Esteem, Education, and Economic prosperity, with a message of deliverance, victorious living and practical Biblical application.
To be the youth group that is the foremost source of God’s love and caring in the state of SC thereby increasing our youth group to 200 active spiritually equipped teens.
